Love spending time at the lake? Would your group like to stay together in a unique 2 story historical cottage style home with lots of character that is close to both Lake Shelbyville and town amenities as well? Located within walking distance to several downtown restaurants/bars/shops and one mile to public boat ramps and beaches. Two story cottage style home built in 1870, updated, fully furnished kitchen and dining room, comfy living area space around the flat screen wifi TV (no cable). Large utility room with washer/dryer, utility sink, and it has doggie door access to a fenced in back yard. Housebroken dogs and responsible owners are welcome! Dogs must be approved in advance and a $25 pet fee (2 max) will be required. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other has both a full and twin bed in it. The master bedroom is on the main level and has an access door to the backyard deck that looks out over the fenced in back yard, where you can sit in the rocking chairs and sip coffee in the morning. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room as well. Please note that both bathrooms are on the main level of the house, one off the master bedroom and the other off the living room area where the queen sleeper sofa is. Off street parking for vehicles is available, just pull in the driveway on the right side of the house and park in front of the carriage house, please do not block the alley. Parking on the Walnut Street side of the house is available if you are bringing your boat. A charcoal grill, fire pit, and picnic table are at the house. Firewood is available for purchase at any gas station in town. Grilling utensils are in the laundry room area on a rolling grill cart.

On Monday-April 13, 2020-at the pond nearest the house, I sat and watched a Loon, 6 Mallard Ducks and a mother and father swan with 5 young ones. The evening before, there were 6 or 7 deer grazing in the yard and field by the barn. It might not be everyone's idea of heaven on earth, but it's mine. Surrounded by amber fields in the summer and fall and over 1,000 acres of wooded lands, our 30 acre country property is located far enough away from population that you won’t hear any of the traffic noise that goes with a typical city, other than the sound of the train whistle from the tracks about 3 miles away. Nestled almost exactly in between the city of Arthur, the hub of Illinois Amish Country; Lake Shelbyville, a fisherman’s and boaters paradise; the city of Charleston, home of Eastern Illinois University and Lincoln Log Cabin; and the city of Mattoon, home of Lakeland College, you're less than a 30 minute drive in any direction to a host of family friendly activities in small town surroundings. KIMBLES FARMHOUSE is a cozy, spacious home that Kimble built from an old wooden corn crib with his own 2 hands. It is just 5 minutes from Lake Shelbyville, but out in the country where the views and the tranquility of the farm make it seem like you are in your own little paradise! It has 2 large bedrooms that sleep a total of 4 people ( one of the bedrooms is a suite with a bath of its own, 2 sitting chairs and its own dining table), 2 full bathrooms, a large eat in kitchen, an adjoining dining room, an inviting living room for great conversations, a patio with a grill and seating to cook out and take in all the scenery, a laundry room with a washer and dryer, electric plugs for boats, and plenty of parking for your boats, cars and trucks! There is a maximum length of stay of 10 days. If longer is needed you will have to contact and approve through owners. Kimble's Farmhouse sets on a beautiful hill in the middle of an 80 acre farm that Kimble purchased in 1959 when he was just 19 years old. It is a working farm where guests can look down over the hillside and see a breathtaking view of the landscape, including cattle that sprinkle the hillside. The cattle are fed every evening in the feedlot and guests can watch as they come running up the hill and are fed at the silo. There are, at times, bottle calves and guests can witness those feedings as well and try your hand at it, if you would like! There will be corn and bean plantings in the spring and corn and bean harvests in the fall on the farm. If you are lucky enough to be there during harvest time, you can probably hitch a combine ride! We would LOVE to have you as our guests at KIMBLE'S FARMHOUSE!

The BLACKLOG CORNER COTTAGE is a quaint little cottage that gets its name from an old school that used to sit on this corner way back in the day when kids walked "up hill" both ways to school with no shoes on in the dead of winter...... so that's how the old story goes. It also sits on the old road that went from Shelbyville to Vandalia back in the "dirt road" days. Today the corner's roads are called Co. Road 1000 North and Illinois State highway 128. It is also setting just 400 feet from the Pond Shore Lodge (listing 1351741) if you need additional lodging. There is a 10 day maximum stay. The cottage is nestled among trees with a peaceful country setting. There's a patio, fire pit, and charcoal grill. It has ample parking for many vehicles, boats, and trailers and has 2 stocked fishing ponds just steps from your door for your enjoyment. There is a full eat in kitchen with all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils you will need to prepare a delicious meal. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator so you can stock your own food and beverages. There is a stand-up shower in the bathroom and a laundry room with full size washer and dryer for your convenience. The cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, and 2 twin roll away beds.

Great location on the water of Gypsy Cove where you can relax in the water or drop a line in to fish. New platform roof top dock gives you plenty of space to relax and catch some sun rays! There is space for you to bring your own boat or rent one at the local marina. The cove is the perfect place to learn how to waterski, wakeboard, or tube. Inside the home you will find two living spaces along with a small mini kitchen downstairs, a full bathroom, and a bedroom. There is also access to the lake and outside patio areas from the downstairs living space. The home sleeps 8 comfortably in beds and is the max for this vacation retreat. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need during your stay. A Smart tv is located in the living room upstairs & living room downstairs. We do NOT offer Direct TV. bring your firesticks or PW for netflix, amazon, etc. A washer & dryer is available for your use as well downstairs. The home has central air conditioning & heat. We do have wi-fi...all the connection instructions will be inside the home. Outside there is large deck off the house that is great for entertaining or eating a meal. We have a charcoal grill on the deck for your use to grill out. There is a fire pit outside for your use. We do not usually stock firewood so I would recommend getting some beforehand for your use. If there is wood provided, feel free to use some of it. A short path leads down to the boat dock from the large deck, there you will find Adirondack chairs for relaxation & floats for use in the water. The door on the left side of the boat house has floats & noodles for use. Please be respectful of the neighbors and keep noise to a minimum later in the evenings. Failure to do so will result in funds taken from deposit. If anything is damaged during your stay PLEASE let us know so we can replace what has been broken. We use this home as well as our home away from home retreat with our family. Anything you may find in the fridge as far as condiments or in the pantry or freezer, was food that we may have bought for use during our stay. Everyone is more than welcome to consume these items, but please do not throw anything away unless it has expired/gone bad. We want to invite anyone who wants to enjoy Lake Sara to its fullest to come relax! We strive to make your experience the best it can be. We hope to see you soon! A couple notes: -The boat in the lift is not for rental use, there are a couple marinas on the lake that offer boat rentals. -There is plenty of parking for boats on each side of dock. -Please respect our home as you would your own. -be respectful of the neighbors. We have an adorable park model that is located in the campground of Lake Sara. Don't be fooled by the looks of is plenty of space in this rental. In the home there is only 1 actual bedroom with a queen sized bed but there is a loft area that sleeps 6 as well with two full sized beds on both sides of the loft area, 1 full sized blow up mattress, along with a sofa sleeper in the living room that sleeps 2 more. The loft area is very spacious and could sleep many additional kids if needed. The home itself is spacious and offers everything you should need during your stay. There is no washer/dryer but the campground has coin laundry available. There is one spacious bathroom in the home that has a tub & a shower but there is also a shower facility within the campground and is nearby. That facility is VERY clean and recently updated. Within the campground you are also able to pitch a tent or two outside of the home, which is something you can NOT do around the rest of Lake Sara, so we think that is pretty cool. There is a charcoal grill outside for cooking out & also a little bonfire pit for nightly hangouts. We have made this rental at the campground available for year around rental capability. Cabin offers a canoe for use, a couple generic life jackets, and a couple noodles for floats. Please feel free to use but put back when finished. If anything ends up lost or broken, please let me know so we can replace as needed. Fishing license required for anyone over the age of 16. The home does have A.C! There is a boat slip included with the stay.

Please read THOROUGHLY before booking. This adorable 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom park model sits among all of Lake Sara & its glory. The home sleeps 4 people in beds but could maybe fit another 1 or 2 on the floor in sleeping bags. The large lot has room for tents to be pitched and has a fire pit for those evening bonfires. Large front porch is a great place to enjoy some coffee, to eat meals with nature, or grill out with the gas grill provided. Located just a short jaunt to the water where you can cast a line. This rental is available from April 1st until October 1st each year. This rental is far from PERFECT. We are a LAKE rental in a campground. Our rates range from $99/night to $150/night on holidays. We are by far the best quality but we do provide a place to lay your head and relax at the lake. Please do not expect modern, high end things here. The bed even may be too firm for your liking...we can not possibly please everyone. You may be worried about the reviews you see but we have fixed nearly 99% of the issues people mentioned in the reviews. We strive to provide you with all the necessary things you would need during your stay. The home has a fully stocked kitchen, beach and bath towels, and linens. There is no washer & dryer so please try to be economically friendly and reuse the towels to avoid additional fees for extra laundry upon check out. We provide a coffee pot and the occasional mix-in. Please bring your own coffee to use! In the living room there is a stereo for use that offers surround sound throughout the cabin (pretty neat) For those hot and sweaty summer days, the rental has central a.c. AND the unit pumps! Works really well. The campground itself is not far from Effingham..only about 5-10 minutes depending on where you want to go. Larson's landing and Pinky's (the new restaurant/bar on Lake Sara) is right across the street. Very convenient for those who would want a night out but don't want to have to drive far. Bring your golf cart if you have one! The area is close to Cardinal golf course and having your own golf cart at the campground makes getting around really convenient. We no longer provide a kayak with the rental. Unfortunately, our paddles kept disappearing from the rental site so we are no longer having that option available to guests. Located in the heart of central Illinois, the Redbud Cottage at Lake Sara is a great destination for families or friends, or a perfect stopover for a trip through the Great Midwest. With your own swimming beach, a floating dock to play on, a beautiful wood-burning fireplace, a dock for fishing, and a large deck for sitting in the sun, enjoy the peace and quiet of our little wooded cottage on the lake. Our beach is SHARED by the Hartmann's grandchildren a few days each Summer. But our grandchildren are still young, will be supervised by adults, and won't use the beach while guests are using the beach or the dock (for example while fishing). Every season is beautiful on Lake Sara, with Spring and Fall being particularly pretty and quiet. The Summer water is wonderful for swimming, and warm from May through September. Enjoy eating on our old family picnic table by the water. Watch the kids swim or play on the beach, or have fun taking a lovely float yourself in Lake Sara's clean, warm water. Wake boarding, tubing, and water skiing are local favorites. There is good fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, and blue gill, especially in the Spring and Fall. Lake Sara sets aside special quiet hours for fishermen. Winter is a great time for crisp woodsy walks and warming fires. Our 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage sleeps up to 7 in our 3 king size beds and a couple of wonderful wide sleeping couches in front of the fireplace. We have a nice kitchen with a Keurig Coffemaker, a French coffee press, a dishwasher, and all new dishes and pots and pans. Our washer and dryer and two-car garage make this a perfect spot for an extended stay. A canoe and a kayak available for the use of our guests. Inside, enjoy the separation of a master suite upstairs, as well as the two-and-a-half story, book-filled living room with its massive stone fireplace. You can burn local wood that you'll find stacked at your door. One of our favorite sports is sitting with a book in front of the fire--wine and s'mores are optional. Our lot is full of tall, beautiful oaks and maples, and is in a pretty neighborhood on the quiet western end of Lake Sara. Redbud trees line Lorton road and are being planted among our woods, bringing their vivid purple/pink flowers in Spring. Views from our huge deck are all water and trees--you can only see one other house. The Lake is surrounded by good Illinois farmland, so it's a wonderful spot for long flat bike rides and walks.

Our 2300 square feet 3 bedroom, two bath home, located on a cove of Lake Sara has everything you need to enjoy a lakefront getaway with family and friends. With 180 degree views of the lake from the house, a large lakeside patio with swim pier great for swimming, fishing, and kayaking from (4 kayaks included for your enjoyment), a large front yard for outdoor games, and fire pit for night, you will have plenty of outdoor fun for all. We purchased this home in August of 2017 so all of the mattresses are new as is the lakeside patio. The house has a full kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave and the dining room has a large table that will easily fit everyone for meals or games. The dining room opens to a living room with both rooms looking out at the lake. There is also a large screened in porch that faces the lake. The walk-out basement is furnished with a pool table and twin/full bunk bed. Our home has two bedrooms upstairs each with its own sink and king size bed. The downstairs bedroom has two twin beds and an upper floor TV room has a pub table, a group seating area, and a fantastic view of the lake. We do not have cable, but the TV is hooked up to our Roku and a Blu-Ray player. Both bathrooms have shower stalls in them with the upstairs bath also having a bathtub. Our driveway and carport have plenty of room for multiple vehicles. The first bedroom has a queen-size bed and TV with cable and Netflix/Hulu. The 2nd bedroom is also shared with the home office space. This room has a full-sized day bed with a trundled twin bed. The master bedroom features a King-sized bed, Attached master bathroom with a double-headed shower, sink, and toilet with a soft-close lid and heated floors. The master also has a TV with Cable and Netflix/Hulu. The shared hallway bathroom features a VERY deep soaker tub/shower, sink, and toilet with a soft-close lid.    The outdoor space is fantastic. Spring through fall we have (indoor) furniture on the screened porch. It's absolutely amazing, beautiful, and relaxing. We have a couch, tables, TV with Cable, Dining table, and chairs on the screened porch. The deck also has a sitting area with Chiminea. Next to the deck is a patio with a hot tub that comfortably fits 6! Out front, there is a carport for 2 vehicles, driveway space for 2 (without blocking anyone in) or 5 (with blocking people in). There is also street parking available.  Guests will have access to the entire house. There is a storage room attached to the carport that will be locked and inaccessible.  All guests, including visitorsmust be included in the reservation count. Absolutely no parties or loud activities. Quiet hours 9 PM- 7 AM.  We will have as much interaction as you would like. We will be available by phone/text/email 24/7 leading up to, during, and after your stay. We may or may not be in town to help out in person.  This is a quiet residential neighborhood. There is a church and a school 1 block away. The Champaign Country Club is directly behind the home behind us.
